There are many peoples who convince that the first edition of Le Petit Prince, that is the French version of this article, was published in 1946 from NRF; Editions Gallimard. The fact is, both versions of English and French of this book were published from Reynal & Hitchcock, Inc., New York in 1943. In these copies the Prince saw the sunset 44 times in a day. He was dressed in a green gown.
In 1944 William Heinemann Ltd.(London) issued The Little Prince. The Prince saw 44 times sunsets and wore a dark-blue gown.

On 30th Novenber, 1945, Édition Gallimard(Paris) issued LE PETIT PRINCE. The Prince saw 44 times sunsets. He wore navy blue gown. All of the illustrations were somewhat different from the originals. The copyright was shown clearly as 1945.
I have (and maybe there is) no 1946 issue from Édition Gallimard. At least in 1947 issue, the copyright was declared as in 1946 and the sunsets was changed to 43 times.

Thr publisher Harcourt, Brace and Company, Inc. bought the copyright from Reynal & Hitchcock, Inc. on 1948. It is not true that the publisher HB got the copyright of The Little Prince on 1943. The fact is that they got it on 1948.

In the following table I will show you the publishing data of the first editions. The informations contains uncertain dates. Offer of any information/correction will be appreciated.

The blanchedalmond background (the background color of this box) shows the data from the source that I have the real book. The respective pages are linked.

The mystyrose background (the background color of this box) shows the data from the source that I have not the real book, but other collectors open their collections by images. The referred collector's names are linked to their source sites.

Boxes with light cyan background color (color of this box) means that I and other collectors have not the first edition/first printing book. The published years are estimated by the publisher's description, published informations/personal communicatons by/from the researchers/collectors. The "?" shows that the book are supposed to be the first edition, however, it is uncertain.

The abbreviations are:
